Earlobe, Thumb And Big Toe

Sing baby.

My youngest still asks me to sing to him before nap time. Bless his little heart he calls it singing as it really is more like a croaking coming from within me but thankfully true love is blind (and deaf) or at least grace and mercy filled for sure! One song that is a regular among his requests is “Jesus Loves Me” and the A B C song which we change the ending to sing “Now I know my A B C’s and I know that God loves me.” Precious memories to treasure in my heart but if you really listen to those Christian little children’s songs truth rings out strong! I’m reminded today of one in particular that goes … “Be careful little eyes what you see, for the Father up above is looking down in love, So be careful little eyes what you see.” Then you fill in eyes and see with ears/hear, hands/do and so on. I’m glad it says looking down in love too because unlike Santa who ticks you over to the naughty list God is looking on with a jealous love, a love that is desperately hurt when He sees you choosing anything less than the very best thing for your life which is Him!

Leviticus 8:24 Moses also brought Aaron’s sons forward and put some of the blood on the lobes of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands and on the big toes of their right feet.

Sounds funny at first glance but it was a reminder to be fully consecrated to the Lord in all that you hear and put into your mind, all that you do with your hands and in all the places your feet take you. See how I was reminded of that song?! Lev. 8:14 is repeated in chapter 14 four different times!

Lev. 11:47 You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean… Lord give us Your wisdom and discernment. Please help us to remember too that when we do slip and sin (and we will in our humanness) Psalm 103:5-6 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. When we confess our sins you are faithful to forgive! I do not have to walk around exclaiming “Unclean! Unclean!” (Lev. 13:45-46) We live this side of the cross and Jesus sets us free!!! John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Jesus, thank you for being a God that loves with a jealous kind of love and a God that is bigger than our biggest mistakes, for being a forgiving and loving God. Help me to remember I exist for you and not vise versa. That when I see You all around me and know your forgiving and redeeming love I shout for joy and fall face down in worship (Lev. 9:24) of the One who is greater than I.
