The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.” Exodus 4:3
When my kids were really little they would hold up their tiny little clenched fist to me full of about 3 gold fish crackers (all they could hold at one time) and say “mo, mo, mama”. I’d have to say, “You can have more but you have to empty your hand of what you have first.” I think the same concept applies to me! Exodus 4:1-3 Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied. The Lord said, “Throw it on the ground.” -God continues to show Moses how He can use his staff to display His power. Moses had to let go of something he valued dearly…a very important tool of his trade. However Moses had to give the little in his hand over to God’s mighty hand to see that God wasn’t planning to do the work in Moses’ strength ever. God wanted to work His strength THROUGH Moses to the extent Moses’ would allow Him to do so, and that took letting go and trusting God to be bigger than he could even imagine. -Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty. Zech. 4:6 Lord, show me what I need to let go of so that You can fill me with more of You.
