Netflix – Choose Your Jersey

Netflix… I like it, and if you were to go to my que all you would find is romantic comedies. Those are my favorite types of movies (and since time is precious why not make sure your movie choice is going to be worth it right?!) and therefore romantic comedies are all Netflix fills in my suggestion panel.

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 1 Peter 5:8-9

The devil prowls around like a lion, a stray cat, and when you feed a stray cat what happens?… they keep coming back!! Like Netflix they see what you like and they keep bombarding you with the same thing so that an option to try something new is practically non-existent…in fact if I want to watch some other genre in movie I go to another family members que! The devil knows your weak spot and he will tempt you and attack you every chance he gets and that is often if not always in some way through pride. The devil himself fell to it (Rev. 12:7-12). First, know you are not alone. You are not in the cage with that lion and a locked door. God has placed within your hand the key to get out.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Cor. 10:13

So often if not always that key looks like humility. God says clothe yourselves with humility… its His team jersey. It has to be put on which is an action required by us. Humility does not come naturally.  But if we are not on the humility side we are on the proud side and “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” I don’t know about you but I can’t afford to be fighting against God the Almighty. So what is it causing such pride… thinking too much of myself, too little, am I anxious not trusting in my faithful God who promises He is all powerful, all knowing, with me always and will always faithfully provide for all that I need? What has you caught in a pit of sin drowning in lies that tell you, you will never be able to get out?

Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

He died to set you free! Lev. 26:13 I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high. With God, five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you. Lev. 26:8

With God we are more than conquers but we must be wearing the jersey of the most humble One, Jesus.

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil. 2:6-11
