If I HAD to pick one thing to eat for the rest life I’m pretty sure it would be bread. I LOVE bread especially the fresh out of the oven kind… oooh just the smell of it baking has me salivating. It’s a little bit of heaven when I walk past that Subway outlet in Walmart and they have just made a fresh batch of bread…laugh if you will, but the struggle is real, even in Walmart! However on a full stomach I might be more enabled to resist the urge to plead with Subway to sell me the batch of bread loaves (no sandwich fillings needed). Same is true with the Word I think. Jesus says He is the source of living water (John 7:38) and the bread of life (John 6:35)! If I am filled up with Him than Galatians 5:16 says walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. I read something Oswald Chambers said that resonated with me and that was “Your whole life is to be over mastered by Me; you are to have no end, no aim, and no purpose but Mine.” And the more I get to know of Who He is I so want Him to conform my will to His and I pray for an unshakable faith to truly be able to live that way. A song I really like has a stanza in it that goes something like this… I was reaching for the stars and He made me realize they are all in His hands and it was really His hand I was reaching for – may it be His hand I desire most. Psalm 19:14 May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. – Its when I seek out His way that I truly walk in freedom (Psalm 119:45). When I sing His praises it gives my body life, my spirit hope, and my mind focus. He reminds me that He is bigger than my feelings and my circumstances and that even when the situation is bad He is always good. A book I just finished reading said, Things do not always turn out as planned but always as God planned. Lord I pray when discouragement and doubt hit that I would continue to seek You and that You would call forth songs of joy morning till night (Psalm 65:8) from my heart and help me to sing of Your strength in the morning (Psalm 59:16) and that I would remember Your omnipresence with me and that You do hear me and as I lay my requests before you help me to wait in expectation (Psalm 5:3) and even when the answer is not what I planned or hoped for help me to remember that the secret things belong to You as I pray You continue to reveal more of Yourself and Who You want to be to me in each step along the way (Deut. 29:29). Help me to trust You and to lean not on my own understanding (Prov. 3:5) because Your ways and thoughts are so far above mine (Isaiah 55:8-9) You know things I don’t and see things I can’t. So help me to draw my nourishment from You the Bread of abundant life and to drink from the water You give me in which I will never be thirsty again because you are the great I AM, all I need. Indeed the water You give me will become in me a spring of water welling up to eternal life (John 4:14). Thank you Lord that this nourishment this living water is something You offer all of us and it only take saying, Yes, Jesus I believe. Romans 10:9 says if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him form the dead, you will be saved. -Oh my friend lets drink till we spill out on everyone around us and feast together, guilt/carb free too!
