One of my son’s favorite things to do is dress up… we have been everywhere in the city as a dinosaur, spiderman, captian america, cowboy, doctor, hulk, santa… you name any superhero, warrior, creature thing and he’s been it around town. Once around Christmas time he purposely dressed as santa and as cold as it was as he got out of our van I noticed him opening his jacket and securing it open behind his back! I decided to ask him to explain his logic behind his actions on this freezing December day… and he said (like I should have already known) I’m dressed as santa mom and someone might want to see santa in the store! Of course, why not right! Well sure enough we are in the store and a boy possibly a year younger than my son about crawled out of his skin because he saw santa (my son) this little boy was jumping up and down and exclaiming very loudly for all to hear because who would want to miss this joyous opportunity?! He was up and down the aisle trying to get any and everyone to share in his joy at seeing my son dressed as santa… he then stood very close to my son if my son had sat down I think he would have sat in his lap he hugged him and just beamed ear to ear and to see my son’s beaming expression you just have to know God is good on all levels! It was just the sweetest scene to observe such pure joy. My son had set out to share simple joy and his own was increased triple fold and how like our God is that, right! You can’t out give Him ever! Well to reign this back in to my point in Scripture my son also likes to dress as a knight in shining armor and he asks me numerous times a day sometimes to retie and secure his breastplate…here’s the tie in.
Fashion a breastplate for making decisions Ex. 28:15 Don’t we wish it was that easy, strap on a breastplate, make the right choices in life!! But maybe in a way it is… what is the breastplate called in the armor of God?.. The breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS (Eph. 6:14). It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God–that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 1 Cor. 1:30 Allow your heart to be guarded by, and flooded with Jesus our righteousness. The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life Prov. 10:11 and it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks. Luke 6:45 Just as Aaron and his sons were instructed to have some of the blood put on their ear lobe, their thumb and their big toe.. (Ex. 29:20) sounds kind of odd but it was a symbol, a reminder to have ears sensitive to God and His Word, to have hands and feet dedicated to serving others on God’s behalf. In the same way if we want to make good decisions we need to remember to keep Jesus as the breastplate of our heart fully dedicated to knowing and obeying His Word hiding it within our hearts (Psalm 119:11) for it is in our hearts that we humans plan our course, but the LORD establishes our steps. Prov. 16:9 Praise Him for that! The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Prov. 1:7 Jesus you are the Word of life a lamp for my feet, and a light on my path (Psalm 119:105) guard and guide my heart and mind today to make good, Godly decisions. Decisions that will bring Your heart pure joy Lord.
