Just before bed last night my oldest son mentions off handedly that their was a new kid in one of his classes so he made a point of going up to him, shaking his hand and welcoming him in. I thought, wow God who knows what an impact that had on that new 7th grade boy…what an answer to the prayers he may have whispered over and over on his way to school that morning. And God thought I hear you man, and I will answer you…I’ve God my servant Noah that I will make sure you cross paths with today, and I know as I am in his heart, that he walks with Me and will notice your need and will rely on the courage and confidence he places in Me in him to meet your need today. I found myself praying God make me like that, like my son, that when Your eyes roam the earth looking for hearts fully committed to You in which you can strengthen (2 Chronicles 16:9), see mine!! I do not want to miss even one encounter You might bring my way to shine You in me!
Its hard to be the new guy and to find your place in this world but God has a place for all of us. The one who made the world also made it big enough for everyone He created in it. As I read today in Genesis 25 verse 6 stood out that Abraham gave gifts to all his sons but sent all away to the east except his son Isaac… wonder how that made the others feel?! However in verse 9 we read Isaac and Ishmael working together to bury their father. I thought God help me to so honor and respect You, my Heavenly Father, enough that when You may call me to work along side someone that isn’t so nice to me or possibly has earned what seems more favor, blessing, honor, recognition, whatever it may be than I, like Ishmael… the first born, older son yet not the one that all the promised blessing was resting, far from forgotten by God, but none the less could have held some bitterness in his heart wondering why not ME?! Or Isaac, well you’re so mean Ishmael.. and either could have said bury him yourself! Help me Lord to rest in Your Sovereignty and not fall away on account of how You choose to do things(Matt. 11:6)..Your ways and thoughts are higher and better than mine (Isaiah 55:8-9). After Abraham’s death God blessed Isaac and he then lived near Beer Lahai Roi it says in verse 11! Wow good choice Isaac! Gen. 16:14 the same place Hagar, Ishmael’s mother said You Lord are the God who sees me! I want to live under His watchful eye! Not that there is anywhere the Omnipresence of our God could not seem me but I want to walk WITH Him and make my home only where His presence is! And as I read further in Genesis 26:2 I see Isaac continue to do just that! God says do not go down to Egypt even though Egypt may be looking pretty good right now with this famine going on here however…God says live in the land where I tell you to live. – Lord I only want to live where you tell me to live!! God continues in verse 3 Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. – My God can bless abundantly even in a famine so He says stay with Me… Lord even more than Your blessing I want to seek You. God continues to reconfirm the promise to Isaac that He made to his dad and I thought it neat in verse 5 God says because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws. -Reminded me of John 14:15 when He says, If you love me, keep my commands. – So in Abraham’s obedience God knew he loved Him and that’s what God is after right! He is all about a love relationship with Him.. so I pray Lord help me to show you how much I love you by being obedient to what You say. So as Isaac stayed like God said to for awhile…there came a time when Isaac was so blessed and prospering because of the Lord that the Philistines envied him and there was animosity so that Abimelech told Isaac to move away from them in verse 16 so he did and went not to Egypt but to the Valley of Gerar. However even there it took three times trying to settle down digging a well and facing unwelcoming people and hardships until finally in verse 22 he moved yet a third time and dug yet another well and this time no one quarreled over it. What a relief he was probably thinking! He named it Rehoboth, saying, “Now the Lord has given us room and we will flourish in the land. – Wow and He has a place for all of us and when we keep floundering around as it sometimes seems we can’t find our place or nitch where we fit in or belong… the One who created the world and holds it all in His Almighty hands says come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest (Matt. 11:28). You have a specific spot tucked up under His arm and close to His heart as He whispers in your ear just wait and see!….What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived — the things God has prepared for those who love him — (1 Cor. 2:9) My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:2-3 Help me Lord to trust You have a place for me and in the mean time in the midst of all the unknown to walk with you in an obedient love relationship with You, the Almighty God – El-Shaddi, the All-Powerful God!
