It Wasn’t Me

Does anyone else have a member of their family named “It Wasn’t Me”? I do not recall naming any of my children that but somehow “It Wasn’t Me” has become a real part of our family! So often when something unpleasant happens we are so quick to look around for “It Wasn’t Me”.  Don’t we wish we were much more natural at being humble so that when the best of the best happened we always did the same sort of thing, look around for anyone else to praise and honor?!

You may say to your self, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth… Deut. 8:17-18

God’s reminder to the Israelites in Duet. 6:10-15 I find to be good advice for us all.  Four times in that passage He says “you did not”.  God lists many blessing that have befallen the people and He is warning them, be careful that you do not forget the LORD (verse 12). From Whom all blessings flow (Psalm 103:1-5)!

Yes you are chosen as God’s child and if you do not know Jesus yet it is no coincidence that you are reading this. He is pursuing you (maybe even more than you are pursuing Him). As His child you are a treasured possession (Duet. 7:6) but He did not set His affection on you because of who you are or anything you have done. He just loved you (Duet. 7:7-9)! Before He made Adam and Eve He had the idea of you and loved you even knowing all the mistakes you would make. So lets not forget before He saved us we were but slaves. He pulled us out of the grip of death with a Mighty hand! Now we are free to love and obey Him in a personal relationship which is where we learn what it means to truly live! It’s because of His great love for us that He doesn’t want us ensnared by “self”!

Jesus humble my heart to always remember “I did not” and to always give You ALL the glory because “You did!” Yours is the kingdom, power and glory forever. Amen!
