Blessing And A Curse

See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse – Deuteronomy 11:26

I have to say I love cheese. I really do. But for me its both a blessing and a curse (kinda like my love of fresh baked bread.) Cheese, a healthy blessing in moderation yet too much and I will find myself doubled over wanting to curse all cheese in the world! God has given us all free will to make our own choices. He longs for us to love Him for our own good (Deut. 10:12-13)! But true love can not be forced so before us all is set a blessing and a curse. We are free to choose.

Jesus died for ALL of us on the cross paying a debt we owed but could not pay. He gave it ALL up (a very big all) to rescue us, then rose again conquering the grave for all who would choose to believe in Him! For some of us though the deception of the world is very strong, too strong and we walk away from Him, away from eternal life. (Or never truly seek out what the Truth is!) We think our here and now is too much to give up for Him. Our “big” now would look so little if we got even a glimpse of what He has in store for us who would lay this life down to follow Him. No man will be able to stand against you Deut. 11:25)!

We cannot be too intentional and diligent about choosing well each day through prayer AND as Deuteronomy 11:18-21 says, TEACH YOUR CHILDREN! If you do not have your own children you surely have people God has placed in your circle of influence. And Deut. 11 reminds us three times in verses 2, 5 and 7 how important it is to share how we have seen the faithfulness of our God work in our lives. Verse 5 It was not your children who saw what he did for you in the desert until you arrived at this placeverse 7 But it was your own eyes that saw all these great things the LORD has done. We are responsible to share our faith with the next generation who have not experienced what we have yet with our Lord. Give the opportunity for them to choose to build their foundation on the Rock of who Jesus is and begin to look for, and to Him in their own lives as their personal Lord and Savior.

We can be certain the world is going to do their part in sharing what they think and if we know Truth we know that only leads to the curse. Be careful or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them. Deut. 11:16 And be careful of that cheese although I bet if I stand firm in Jesus there is cheese in heaven (served with a giant side of fresh baked bread) that I can eat until my hearts content and that will never cause me to double over! So stand firm, share your faith in the True Jesus and choose the blessing!
