Bring It ALL

The men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the LORD. Joshua 9:14

How often do we subconsciously revert to our own resources?! Or maybe we do ask for God’s opinion in prayer but we have become so good at rationalizing what we really want, that we wouldn’t see red tape if we were wrapped up in it mummy style!!

Israel was promised victory against all their enemies. The people of Gibeon decided they might try to save themselves by playing a trick on Israel rather than go to out right war against them. In Joshua 9 you can read how they dressed in worn out clothes and sandals. They brought hard moldy bread and worn out wine skins… everything to appear as if they had traveled long and far to meet Israel. They promised they were from no where near them yet wanted a peace treaty because they had heard of their powerful God.

The men of Israel wanted to make sure it was not a near by enemy that they were to annihilate so they sampled the travelers provisions and humanly speaking found no reason under the sun to not enter into a peace treaty with them. They rested on human wisdom and did not inquire of the Lord because they thought the decision was obvious. WRONG!

It was only three days later they found out they had been deceived by their next door neighboring enemies!!! Whats worse is in verse 24 it states that the enemy was “clearly told” how the Lord would give the Israelites victory over them and that is why they proposed the lie. If our enemy knows the Truth how much more should we!! 1 Corinthians 1:25 says, For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. So why would I ever think before earnestly laying self down and seeking You, “I got this God”?! God help me to bring it ALL before Your throne. You have said to approach boldly and because You care.
