Fire Alarm Pull With God – 43

Joshua 17:17 You are… very powerful.

The fire alarm has just been pulled… you have 60 seconds… what will you take? 1, 2…

Take this: You can. You are capable and already have all you need.

That, in a sense, is what I believe Joshua was saying to the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh. Probably what God says so often to us when we complain in the same way as these tribes were. In Joshua 17:14-18 these two tribes complained to Joshua that they were a numerous people and the Lord had blessed them abundantly (vs. 14). Complaining about blessings… sound familiar?!?! They had much but were unhappy about their space… they needed more land. However it was not the amount of land that was too small it was the amount of already developed land that was too small. Joshua responds go into the hill country and clear the forest. They had room but they would need to work at developing it themselves. How often do we too make excuses because we want things the easy way or put ourselves in a box unwilling to see things from God’s perspective?

The two tribes continue to complain to Joshua about the hill country too… but Josh there are mean, strong people there, people more advanced than us! Joshua responds, You are numerous and very powerful (vs. 17)…. you have room – get to work and clear it, the farthest limits will be yours… though the Canaanites have iron chariots and though they are strong, you can drive them out (vs. 18). YOU CAN! Sometimes we just need someone to remind us of that. Stop complaining, stop looking around for more and start doing what you can with what you have. In Jesus you ARE capable, strong enough and ALREADY have all that you need.

59, 60. GO!
