Worry: “I know the way my life should go and Gods not getting it right.” -Timothy Keller
Isn’t that so true!? What a great definition of worry!
So don’t worry, because I am with you. Don’t be afraid, because I am your God. I will make you strong and will help you; I will support you with my right hand that saves you. Isaiah 41:10
But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm. Proverbs 1:33
Matthew 14:27 Jesus says “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” The word TAKE stands out to me… Jesus has all the courage in the world I need but am I choosing to TAKE hold of it?! This verse is taken from the story about the fear the disciples were experiencing in a little boat during a great storm. Jesus did not say take courage and don’t be afraid because He was going to share with them all the details and reasons and outcome of their storm…. No, He said take courage and don’t be afraid because, “It is I.” I AM everything you need in this storm and I will never leave you. He says the same to each of us… do we have ears that are listening and a heart willing to trust and take from Him the courage and strength we need in the moment?!
After Jesus was crucified, John 20:19 says, On the first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, (Pause: WHAT?! All the disciples huddled in fear behind locked doors?! You might be thinking didn’t the disciples go on to preach BOLDLY, to their death even, with 1000’s coming to belief in Jesus?! What changed? Verse 19 continues… unpause.) Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Jesus! That was/is the difference!! The disciples knew the resurrected God!! They were on victory’s side!! Are you? Do you know Him? If you are reading this, know He is pursuing you. Seek Him with all your heart and you will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13).
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. When they saw the courage of Peter and John (Pause: The what, of these disciples? COURAGE! …unpause.) and realized that they were unschooled ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men hand been with Jesus. Acts 4:12-13
JESUS is the answer to unworrying. He knows what He is doing and loves you enough that He gave His life to save you. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 In Jesus we have heaven coming!!! Will we choose to trust and not worry and live the great adventure He planned for our lives?!!
