Ruth 2:2-3 And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.” Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.” So she went out and began to glean in the fields behind the harvesters. As it turned out, she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz, who was from the clan Elimelech.
Without giving a history lesson this place Ruth found herself was the VERY, VERY best place she could have “happened” to have found herself. How often do we find our self exclaiming in awe and wonder, in almost disbelief sometimes, “As it turned out…!” finishing that sentence with a way God has blessed us that we never would have thought of on our own! We know God promises to be more than we could ever ask or imagine, why then do we find some things so hard to believe?! “As it turns out, God actually figured it out!” “As it turns out, God actually knew better than me!” The issue is trust.
Ruth left all her dreams behind, so she thought. Dreams to have a family of her own, husband, children…and choosing to trust God over all other gods. She didn’t wallow over all she had lost or her station in life, she began to serve faithfully in the moment with the little she had. And “As it turned out” God did amazing things she never would have thought possible, greater things than she ever would have imagined in her life! The story is the same with us, when we choose to trust God above all else, no matter what we think we have lost, we actually gain. Ruth chose to trust God and though her life on earth was far from easy she found herself under the refuge of His mighty wings (Ruth 2:11).
Jesus, help me to serve You with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind. I know you search every heart and understand every motive behind the thoughts. Know my heart and make it humble and pure like Ruth’s. I want you to say of me like you did of David, you did well to have this in your heart! May I chose You first always and in all things. “As it turns out..” Jesus, the more I walk with You, the more I see Your goodness, Your love, Your faithfulness, Your pure awesomeness!! Praise You Jesus!
