I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in my heart and mind. 1 Samuel 2:35
Oh how I want the Lord to be able to say the same of me as He just did of Samuel in the above verse. -She is faithful and willing to do all that is in My heart and mind.- Yet I know that takes courage and strength I do not have on my own. Humanly we can’t do it alone, but like Samuel, we can make an effort to draw on the Lord, the great I AM, to mold us into all we were meant to be.
Verse 21 in that same chapter says, The LORD continued to appear at Shiloh and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word. Through His what? His WORD! Scripture is God breathed and if I want Him to breathe His Spirit into me one way I believe He will do it is through reading His Word! Then 1 Samuel 4:1 says, And Samuel’s word came to all Israel. WOW! God used little Samuel to speak Truth to the whole land! Why? Because Samuel faithfully sought the Lord, God’s heart and mind, with all his (Samuel’s) heart and mind. God was able to fill Samuel up with Himself and He just poured out! God was able to work out in Samuel the purpose for his life because he served Him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind!
God wants to do the same for you and I. We were contrived in His heart and mind before time and so was our purpose! We are loved more than we ever dared hope! Let’s surrender our good for His best, choosing His heart and mind above our own…it’s the only way to true life abundant.
