Great Leaders

2018-04-10 10.55.59

And Saul’s son Jonathan went to David at Horesh and helped him find strength in God.        1 Samuel 23:16

Great leaders – help others find their strength in God (1 Samuel 23:16). God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

Great leaders – take responsibility even when it may not be directly their fault. I am responsible for the death of your father’s whole family. Stay with me; don’t be afraid; the man who is seeking your life is seeking mine also. You will be safe with me. 1 Samuel 22:22

Great leaders – when given information they always take it before the Lord first….and second. (1 Sam. 23:1 David was told… vs. 2 he inquired of the Lord… vs. 4 once again David inquired of the Lord…)

Great leaders – do not assume what they hear is truth, they always hold it up against real Truth. (1 Sam. 23:9 When David learned…. vs. 10 David said, O LORD, God of Israel, your servant has heard… vs. 11 and 12 David asks is it true…is it true.)

Great leaders – know they are first servants of the Most High God and He is the Rock on which they stand. 1 Samuel 23:25 Saul and his men began to search, and when David was told about it, he went down to the rock… His life was threatened and he went to the rock.

Great leaders – are followers of Jesus, servants of The Most High God, listeners to the Holy Spirit…. wholeheartedly and with a willing mind.

Great leaders – submit to the highest calling – go lower to lift Him higher. They are humble… not thinking ‘less’ of themselves, just not thinking of themselves at all. They look to the needs of others trusting God with any concern for themselves.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind;, and love your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27

Jesus, thank You for Your perfect example of a perfect leader. Thank You too for the great leaders you have recorded in the Bible. Other humans that made mistakes just like us yet didn’t give up giving their whole heart over to You again and again; to pick up, dust off, encourage and revive with Your mighty love once again. Praise You Jesus!
