The Lord upholds all those who fall- Psalm 145:14
Now that the weather is beginning to warm up and my children are wearing shorts on occasion, the skinned knees are making their debut. A few times as my children have stumbled into a fall that skinned their knees, I’ve been able to grip their hand so tightly that their head never hit the ground. Skinned knees might bring tears but a face plant on the sidewalk is sure to cause much greater devastation; tragedy avoided only because I held their hand.
Our heavenly Father holds our hand. We may fall and skin our knees (John 16:33) but He upholds us with greater strength than we can fathom and has kept us from the greatest tragedy of all; hell for eternity (John 3:16). Psalm 138:8 The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me – so He upholds us when we fall.
Psalm 44:3 It was NOT by THEIR sword that THEY won the land, nor did THEIR arm bring THEM victory; it WAS YOUR right hand, YOUR arm, and the light of YOUR face, for YOU LOVED THEM. (emphasis mine)
What it’s NOT about: THEIR, THEY, THEIR, THEM (us)
What it IS about: YOUR, YOUR, YOUR, YOU (God)
Why?: YOU loved them (HIS LOVE FOR US!!)
You can’t do it on your own and you can’t earn His saving handhold… He holds your hand if you let Him, because He loves you so much.
