As one of them was cutting down a tree, the ax head fell into the water. He cried out, “Oh no, master! It was borrowed!” 2 Kings 6:5
Gosh, we’ve all been there and felt that heart sickening feeling of something happening that can’t be undone. You can feel this emotion in the verse above and your heart aches for this poor man. If we as humans are capable of such emotion how much more so our heavenly Father, the author of that kind of compassion.
Mark 6:48 Jesus walks on water because he sees His disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Don’t you know that same God is moved when He sees you straining with the wind against you? Psalm 56:8 You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.
Elisha stepped up to help the man who had lost the ax head. He had no doubt in his mind that His God could recover it! Sure enough that ax head floated to the surface and the man was able to lift it out of the water!
Sometimes God brings the miracle and sometimes the miracle is done within. He always cares deeply and He draws near to the broken hearted. Jesus gave His life so that ours would not end with this world, in sunken ax heads. Believe and accept His deep love for you, just as you are – maybe that’s what you need to have your “ax head” float again. There’s no doubt in my mind He can do it.
