…a source of strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate. Isaiah 28:6
The enemy often attacks where we are weakest. Not against our fortified walls but at our gate. Often times I find that to be the mind… the gate way in through which we allow information into our lives and formulate the way we think thus the way we act.
Is the devil doing battle at your gate? Often times we just need to lay down our battle perspective and take up Jesus’. Sometimes we call a failure out too soon, when maybe we were just too short sighted to see what God was aiming for!! Will we be soft enough to allow Jesus to change our battle perspective if needed? (Romans 8:28)
Is the enemy trying to get you to stay behind your gate or not step through it? We have a victorious warrior King who endured all suffering for our sake to make sure our battle, if we believe in Jesus, ends this side of heaven. We have the good news of His Kingdom yet to come!
So what is shaking your gate? The Spirit of glory and of God rests on those suffering for His name sake. (1 Peter 4:14) Jesus did battle at His own gate, one with a really big stone rolled across the front. The devil couldn’t believe his eyes when Jesus walked out! Where O death is your sting?! Where O death is your victory?! Fear is not from God (2 Tim. 1:7) so do not throw away your confidence (Heb. 10:35-39) in the One who is your great source of strength in the battle at your gate.
Jesus is wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom (Isaiah 28:29) He will instruct you and teach you the right way (v. 26). He has your best battle plan in hand, the one who trusts will never be dismayed (v.16)! The devil can’t hold you captive at the gate when you choose Jesus as your source of strength.
