Stronger Still

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it. Revelation 2:17

The closer you draw to Jesus the closer He draws to you (James 4:8); the deeper into Him you look the more He reveals who He made you to be. Think of Jacob as he wrestled with God (Gen. 32). Jacob wouldn’t let go of God and it was in verse 30 that he says I saw God face to face and my life was spared. Jacob was a con artist and even his name means “grabber” but it wasn’t until he grabbed on to God and wrestled with Gods will for his life that he realized he was made for more. God called him Israel, “Triumphant with God”!

Or think of Simon in Matthew 16:17-18 when he sees who Jesus really is – God. It didn’t matter what he had been before or what others may have thought of Simon… as he looked into Jesus deeply, Jesus called him Peter – petros or detached stone – Peter you are a chip off the old block! I am the Rock and its stones like you with faith like yours that I will use to build my church!

If you feel like you are holding on to hope, love, grace for dear life, know Hope, Love, Grace is holding on to you too; and His grip never tires. There is no comfort in change but there is no change in comfort either. So often we don’t change until the cost of staying the same supersedes that of change. However I think allowing Him to reveal and work out who He sees you as and what He made you to be will be well worth the ride.

Jesus be our strength EVERY morning (Isaiah 33:2) You are the sure foundation for our times, a rich store of salvation, wisdom and knowledge! You are the key to this treasure, be my all Lord. (vs. 6) For You strengthen my feeble hands and shaky knees, You say to this fearful heart be strong and do not fear! (Isaiah 35:3-4) For you are faithful and will come with a vengeance, eyes and ears will be opened, the lame will leap and the mute will shout with joy! Water will gush in the wilderness and streams will flow in the desert, burning sand will become a pool and thirsty ground will be bubbling springs (vs.4-7). Everlasting joy will crown our heads and gladness and joy will overtake all our sorrow and sighing (v. 10)!

Nothing is impossible for You, with each breath I am reminded You see hope in and for my life. Draw me deeply into You that you may reveal Yourself to me. Praise the mighty name of Jesus who though I cling to Him, His grip is stronger still!
