O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago. Isaiah 25:1
My sisters large puppy dog was his normal laid back, happy go lucky, lovable self one moment and the next suddenly began acting like a bucking bronco! To everyone’s surprise the poor thing had gotten stung by a bee right on his big puppy dog nose! My sister was able to get her gentle giant calmed down enough to carefully remove the stinger with some tweezers. After that her puppy was fine, just needed a few extra cuddles; which my nephews are always happy to oblige.
Like the stinger had to be removed for puppy’s nose to heal, Jesus had to give Himself up as a sacrifice for our sins and rise again the third day, removing the ultimate defeating sting of death to make eternal life with Him in His Kingdom possible. Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where O death is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? 1 Corinthians 15:54-55
…but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 2 Timothy 1:10
He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces.. Isaiah 25:8
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death – that is, the devil – and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. Hebrews 2:14-15
The puppy had to submit to my sisters loving hands – will we submit our lives our fears into His loving, nail scared hands? The hands that took our place on the cross are longing to give us life… life to the full (John 10:10).
You can trust Him – He is perfectly faithful.
