But you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard. Isaiah 52:12
Recently I had the opportunity to travel by airplane. This would be a first time thing for me in many ways so I was excitedly nervous to say the least. However God was faithful in showing up in every moment as I prayed desperately for eyes to see and ears to hear… and not to miss or get on the wrong plane!!
He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. Isaiah 50:4
I had to board a train to get to the gates… found the train (kinda hard to miss). Once on the train I knew they would take me to the gates; but what stop to take or what gates?! Trying to suppress the panic welling up, I looked DOWN at my own feet wondering how do people do this all the time!!?! Then I looked AROUND me and found people/children alone seeming to be as cool as cucumbers! How can they be so calm!?! THEN I looked UP and what do you know… right above my head was a sign that indicated what flight line departed at what gate!! Hallelujah!! I now knew I needed stop 3 for gate C!! Thank you Lord!! (Now if I could only keep my death grip on the pole long enough to make it through all the jerks and jolts of the train without falling over and REALLY causing a scene, I’d be good!)
I lift up my eyes… My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
God willing I made it through security and onto the correct plane… now to find my seat. Wait what, this B-37 is not my seat number?! Where is my seat number? As I frantically check my boarding pass for anything resembling the marks above the airplane seats for any indication of where I should seat myself, the herd of cattle continues to move forward!! What if I don’t have a seat?! What if I pass it and have to climb over all these poor people back to it?!! As my panic inside is reaching a high, I hear behind me a voice over the loud speaker. “For your convenience this airline affords choosing a seat of your choice.” Hallelujah I had a seat on this aircraft and I had not passed it and I could choose my own!!!
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21
From the airplane window I could see other planes flying around us and at one point I was almost not able to see the end of the wing tip due to the thickness of the clouds! I was reminded of how much those pilots have to rely on their instruments and air traffic control.
I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. (6) From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you. Isaiah 48:17,6
Due to much answered prayer I made it safely to my destination and right on time to my nephews first birthday party. Praise the Lord!
