Like A Farmer

I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly. Isaiah 60:22

I pondered over the above verse this morning. What does it mean, in it’s time – I will do it swiftly? Reminded me of 2 Peter 3:8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. His fast may not be my fast and His slow may not be my slow; but He is always right on time!

Listen and hear my voice; pay attention and hear what I say. When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually? Does he keep on breaking up and harrowing the soil? When he has leveled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cummin?  Does he not plant wheat in its place, barely in its plot, and spelt in its field? His God instructs him and teaches him the right way. Isaiah 28:23-26

Like a farmer plants his field so God’s actions are just as well measured and as well planned and timely.

Too often I find myself caught up in a certain step or a misstep in my life, like plowing and plowing and plowing and God is like will you PLANT already; move on! Stop letting fear and failure keep you from what I still have planned for you!! (Is. 57:16)

Or, I find myself ten steps ahead trying to “help” God out and He is like, be still My child I Am wonderful in counsel and magnificent in wisdom (Is. 28:29). Instead of going your own way, keep tuned to where I am already at work so that you can join Me where I lead and prepare your way, and not expect it to be the other way around.

Or, I find myself looking at the field (life) and thinking where is the harvest?! Things are just not working out, God there is no way!! Then Jesus reminds me of John 11:22 …even now… your Redeemer lives and when all is dead, even then, I AM able. He is able! Do you believe this? Yes, Lord… John 11:27 I do believe!

I do believe, so Jesus help me to trust and depend on You. That You who taught the farmer are always doing things in a fitting and orderly way (1 Cor. 14:40). If I’m still breathing that’s a sign You are working in my life, even now, when I can’t see and don’t understand; and I will let You lead and praise You that You have things under control and right on schedule.
