Better For It

I wonder if sometimes the discomfort in our lives we credit the devil, might just be from God. I wonder if what we pray so hard for God to change might be the very thing He is using to change us.

Could it be that the devil more often tries to keep us comfortable or searching for the next numbing agent in order to not feel any discomfort? Could comfort be what keeps us from our calling?

Jesus does not condemn but He does confront. Like a loving parent, sometimes the best love is tough love right!  The calling Jesus has for us might just stretch us and require us to leave a comfort zone so that we recognize our need for complete dependence on Him rather than ourselves?!

In our need, in our discomfort, I think we will find the Bible tells us to run to Him the Comforter (not to all that the world offers as counsel and comforts). Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Cor. 1:3-4

Then in our need, in our discomfort, the best thing to do just might be to start getting our eyes off ourselves and step out; begin meeting the needs of others. …and if you spend yourself in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. Isaiah 58:10

You just might find your zone, Jesus calling on your life.                                                              You just might make the devil VERY uncomfortable.                                                                  You just might find you’re better for it.
