Gettin’ Yanked

Look at the nations and watch – and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told. Habakkuk 1:5

I heard an illustration made by Tim Keller that intrigued me. He said in the process of birth a baby is yanked from their warm, cozy, dark safe place and lifted upside down by the ankles, then spanked to cry! The little one, now suddenly ice cold, crying out, must be thinking – what in the world is going on?!? Shivering and squinting through the bright lights and tears, everything appears upside down (not to mention the blood and guts everywhere)!! However… what this little one would be surprised to know is that everyone in the room is FOR him, everything being done at that moment is for his GOOD, the hands that spanked him are the safest, most skilled and capable hands he could be in!!!

So often in this world things appear one way yet reality is so far above our comprehension. Sometimes what seems wrong is for our good and just what is being used to yank us from the darkness into His Light. That’s why trusting Him who holds the master plan is so important. Habakkuk 1:11 calls guilty, whose own strength is their god. where Psalm 81:1 says, Sing for joy to God our strength.. We can have joy knowing we don’t have to be strong enough on our own to handle or figure out our circumstances! God never asked us to do it alone! He actually over and over and over again bids us come to Him – for He is most assuredly strong enough and loves you deeply.

For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3 We may not understand or be able to make sense of the end from the beginning but we can pray for a faith unshakable in the Alpha and Omega the Beginning and the End, to trust the One with the master plan and Who holds all things together; Who only does things in a fitting and orderly way, to wait in Him with His strength, knowing that at the right time in the right way He will work all things for good if we let Him… He is the everlasting faithful One, the great I AM. He is able – will you trust His yank?
