Do not be afraid… Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard… Daniel 10:12
In this chapter Daniel is “overcome with anguish”, he felt “helpless” he says, “My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.” (vs. 17) Yet when God spoke with Him he was strengthened! (vs. 19)
Well you might be thinking Daniel was highly esteemed (vs. 11) I’m sure God would not want to speak to me like He did Daniel. However Courson’s commentary makes note that the same angel sent to minister to Daniel was the one sent to Mary the mother of Jesus; his name is Gabriel. He told Mary also not to be afraid that she was highly favored or literally greatly loved as well! Did you know that the same Greek word charitoo translated highly favored appears only one other place in the New Testament?! Ephesians 1:6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. So, see if you believe in Jesus you are just as greatly loved as Daniel and Mary because you are in Christ!! He will speak strength into you through His Word too!
Ezra 3:3 Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the alter on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD, both the morning and evening sacrifices. This verse is so encouraging that we are not alone in our fears of others unkindness… judgmental opinions… whatever it may be you are not alone and we have a God who can strengthen us and calm those fears. These people did not let fear overcome but trusted in the One who was their brave, their strength, the One who greatly loved them. They stepped out from under their fear in faith BOTH in the morning AND in the evening ! What’s more is that they built the alter BEFORE the temple! Does that seem backwards to you? Shouldn’t the building come first?! Ez. 3:6 says that even though the temple foundation had not yet been laid they worshiped God!
We too will be blessed when we set our minds to gain understanding and to humble ourselves before our God FIRST before we build our day. Matt. 6:33 Seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be give to you as well. YOU are GREATLY LOVED and He does have a Word for you today. Will we take time to build on the Rock before we roll?
Wishing you a Rock the’N’ Roll day!!
