Marvelous?!

It may seem marvelous to the remnant of this people at that time, but will it seem marvelous to me? Zechariah 8:6

I am the LORD, God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27

Zech. 8:6 says, …will it seem marvelous to me? At the end of my life will it seem marvelous to Him? To the God who needs no one or no thing, what could I possibly do that would be great and marvelous for Him?

Since way back when I think the anxieties of “what is God’s will for my life” have always been. See Deut. 29:29, even in Moses time it says, The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and our children forever, that we may follow… Trying to figure out God’s will… we all want clear direct answers and if we are not careful what may seem self-sacrificing may turn into, or actually be self-centered.  In Zech. 7:5 God says, …was it really for me that you fasted?

God does have a will for each of our lives but if He doesn’t give us some HUGE vision to begin are we willing to follow all that He has revealed in His Word in the mundane of our every day lives? There are enough commands in there to keep us more than busy for at least the next year!! This is what the LORD Almighty says: Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the alien or the poor. In your hearts do not think evil of each other. Zech. 7:9-10 That last part didn’t just say not to DO evil but to not even THINK evil of each other. 8:19 says, Therefore love truth and peace.

Living this way in a world that is not will cause others to notice. I think we would all want people to say, Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you. Zech. 8:23 Did that say let us go with you because you’re so great?! No, because God is with you!! God’s will for each and every one of us is to live each day in such a way that people want the God we have!

As you go out remember you are the apple of God’s eye and He is watching over you and what He starts He completes and no man can stop. The people in Ezra 5 and 6 were challenged by others in their rebuilding of Gods temple. However they were not stopped because God’s eye was on them (5:5). Then those who questioned their work for the Lord were told by the king not only to leave them be and allow them to continue their work for God, but Ezra 6:8 begins, “Moreover…” Moreover God supplied above and beyond for their work through this situation!

Maybe you have been given a great vision to accomplish for our Lord and that’s wonderful! Know His eye is on you and He is faithful to complete that which He starts so don’t give up on doing good He is able to bring about things in ways you never thought or even imagined possible!

Maybe we can’t seem to figure out what great thing God wants us to do with our life and maybe the answer is to take our eyes off our self and just look up. Join God where you see Him working in your moment. What has He already made clear you should do in His Word? Can you do those things while you make lunches, do laundry, wash dishes…? Yes! The bible says praise Him in all things and to pray without ceasing! So maybe right now His will for you/me is to be faithful in the moment. He will honor your faithfulness.

People are always watching and they are longing for more than what the world can offer. So, Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong. Zech. 8:13 Whether God has revealed His will for your life in some huge missionary vision, or if it seems unclear and being faithful with your moment is all you know to do, do it with all your heart as working for the Lord and not for men!!

I think faithful obedience in the big and the small will marvel His heart more than any actual act we could do for Him. This is not always easy, so Lord please this day, increase our trust because we want to marvel Your heart.
