Because the hand of the LORD my God was on me, I took courage… Ezra 7:28
Maybe you never worry but if I’m honest there are times I’ve perfected it like it were an art form… sadly. God addresses the issue of worry in Matthew 6 but if you look around the Scriptures near it God is addressing murder, adultery, not behaving like a hypocrite, not serving another god but the true God, not judging others…. somewhere in all that He also commands (6:25) “Therefore I tell you, do not worry… so to worry is the opposite of trusting God and it seems to me, to disobey a direct command of God would be a sin just like murder, adultery etc. reading further in verse 25 God specifically says “do not worry about your life…” Wow! He really wanted to cover it all! Your whole life, don’t worry about it! He didn’t say don’t think about it, just not to worry over and about it.
The whole entire Word of God starts out, In the beginning God… (Gen.1:1) Phil. 1:6 also says, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. I’m so grateful it says in the beginning GOD and not me or someone else aren’t you!! We are told to be confident that what He starts He can finish there is no exception or excuse that will trip Him up! Praise Jesus!!
God honors the confidence and trust we place in Him. See Ezra 8:21-23, 31 There by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children with all our possessions. I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the the king, “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him.’ So we fasted and petitioned our God about this and he answered our prayer. (31) The hand of our God was on us, and he protected us from the enemies and bandits along the way. WOW! God honors your faith and trust in Him, He will not leave or forsake you.
Take courage my friend in Jesus, because the mighty hand of God rests upon you; whom or what shall we fear or worry about!?!
Jesus fix our eyes on You. So often in Your Word you encourage us to get our eyes off of self.. You said look at the stars, the sand on the sea shore the birds of the air… take my eyes off my self Lord so that I might see You and what motivates Your heart more clearly. I want God-confidence over self-confidence or self-unconfidence. Please grant me ever increasing trust in You Jesus.
