This is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:9-11
There once was a young slave girl who was possessed by an evil spirit. Acts 16:17-18 say, This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her. So “Paul became so troubled…” that he called on Jesus to heal her!
The things that annoy us most about some people, those things that seem to drive us crazy… do they trouble us into making the effort to hear them with Jesus ears like Paul did – to see that person as someone made in His own image (Gen. 1:27)? Since our struggle is not against flesh and blood (Eph 6:12) maybe they need to be set free! Maybe God has brought you to this person or situation to hear with His ears, to see with His eyes, to love with His love (Rom. 5:5) and to be His hands and feet in helping this other person He created with such grand intentions just as He created you!?!
However even with the very best intentions of reaching the lost 1 Corinthians 10:12-13 issues a very strong warning, So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. This warning is for those who feel they are already standing firm. You may not think you are susceptible to falling in the same pit as someone else as you try to help but 1 Peter 5:8 issues another warning, Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. None of us become an evil criminal over night, its a slow fade of wrong choices. Its giving the devil a foothold because we let the sun go down on our anger (Eph. 4:26-27). So…
Armor up soldier! God calls you a mighty warrior (judges 6:12)! Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, after you have done everything to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray…
What part does that armor not shield? YOUR BACK… because you were never made to run from the enemy in fear! Greater is He who is in you than He who is in the world. (1 John 4:4) In Jesus you do not fight FOR victory, you fight FROM victory! Praise the mighty name of Jesus!
Jesus give us Your ears to hear what You hear and then guard our hearts and minds safely in You so that we might go forth boldly in You to up the population of heaven knowing the gates of hell will not prevail against us (Matthew 16:18)!
