But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Matthew 14:27
The LORD thunders at the head of his army; his forces are beyond number, and mighty are those who obey his command. Joel 2:11
How often do we hold back on what God may be calling us to do because we don’t feel we have it all under control yet?! We don’t feel qualified enough, we are discouraged, we feel alone and lacking in ability and strength.
Ephesians 6:10-18 calls us to suit up as a warrior in God’s army of which we are not the head, the Lord is the head of his army, praise Him!! We may feel alone but God always has a remnant and His forces are beyond number! In His army regardless of how you feel, He calls you mighty! A mighty warrior (Judges 6:12)!
He doesn’t call us to take control, He calls us to take courage and trust the One Who is already in control! And don’t wear Saul’s armor! What?! Don’t wear Saul’s armor! In 1 Samuel 17 David takes courage in God to fight a giant, yet king Saul highly doubts his ability, after all the odds ARE highly stacked against David. Saul offers David his armor in verses 38-40 and though David gives it a try he soon takes it all off and goes with a sling shot and five smooth stones. Why? Because God didn’t make David a warrior like Saul, He made David a warrior like David!
You can’t win your battles trying to be someone else! Take courage in God and who He made YOU to be! Let Him be your strength, your confidence, your courage, your joy, your ability will be found in Him. It’s been said He doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called, and that requires faith and trust. So today take COURAGE even if you feel out of control, out of your comfort zone, and allow Him to be the great I AM, the all sufficient One to you. There will always be Saul’s ready to doubt, but do they know your God? The God of heavens armies (Ps. 46:7)?! The God of the impossible (Matt. 19:26)?! The God who turns curses into blessings (Nehemiah 13:2)?! The God who can do immeasurable more than we can think or even imagine (Eph. 3:20-21)?!
Maybe today He is asking you, mighty warrior, to take courage, so that He can prove just Who He is, because in our weakness He is strong! Praise the mighty name of Jesus!
