Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road -the desert road- that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” So he started out… Acts 9:26-27
Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote–Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” John 1:45
…and stayed at the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the Seven. He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied. Acts 21:8-9
About the Seven – Acts 6:3 Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom.
Quite a guy that Philip! When God said “Go.” he did with out question! I think I may have asked where, why, how especially in the desert?! But Philip just went, trusting God.
Philip sought others to bring to Jesus, he was eager to share the good news of Jesus with others and he went out intentionally looking for them.
With four daughters in the ministry he must have done all that he could to leave a legacy of faith within his own family. We know it is only God who turns the heart toward Him, it’s not us; however how often does faith die within our family for lack of attention to passing the most important torch – faith?!
Philip was known to be a man FULL of the Spirit and wisdom so much so that when the community was asked to find men like that Philip came to their mind. Quite a man of integrity, seeking the Lord in season and out. Philip was full of the Spirit, not half full or only when it was convenient, he was sold out, fully submitted to God’s will and purpose.
Let’s pray to be someone the Holy Spirit can fully fill, someone who trusts God completely without knowing details, someone who intentionally seeks others to share Jesus with and seizes every opportunity to leave a legacy of faith with my family.
