…”Oh, my lord, what shall we do?”… 2 Kings 6:15
How often do we find ourselves crying out to our Lord in prayer just like Elisha’s servant did to his master, Elisha, because they were facing an overwhelming, seemingly impossible situation? – Oh, my Lord what should I do!!??!!
I learned a lesson from Elisha’s response to his servants panicked plea. “Don’t be afraid.” … “Those who are with us are more than who are with them.” 2 Kings 6:16 Elisha could have prayed that the enemy that was surrounding them just be eliminated but he didn’t, he prayed, “Oh LORD, open his eyes so that he may see.” and what did his servant see when God answered Elisha’s prayer?! Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17 Wow!
Jesus, when I am afraid help me to remember You are always in control, You always have a plan. Lift my eyes beyond my situation to You, the author and perfecter of my faith (Hebrews 12:2), that because You are for me I have nothing and no one to fear. (Psalm 118:6). Please, Jesus, grant me ever increasing trust and faith in You, the already victorious One.
Paul meets Aquila and his wife Priscilla …because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, and because he was a tent maker as they were, he stayed and worked with them. Acts 18:2-3 Notice the phrase, because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Maybe I’m wrong but I would guess that, that was not a positive event in Aquila and Priscilla’s lives… at first.
However Aquila and Priscilla let the Lord be the lifter of their heads and conform their perspective to His. As a result they were actually in the exact right place and right on time to be used of the Lord to encourage and provide for Paul!
Lets not miss out on the grand adventure the Lord has planned for our lives because we are so full of fear and our own clouded perspective. He knows things we don’t and understands things we can’t – lets choose to trust Him and live!
