So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. Romans 11:5
Romans recounts Elijah’s appeal to God in chapter 11:3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”. Have you ever made a similar appeal in your own words to God? Feeling so alone, like all your dreams have broken or plans seem thwarted and torn and everyone is out to get you, to destroy whats left of you?! If you have wonderful!! I mean, as a parent I would much rather have my children make their frustrated appeal to me any day than walk away in silence! This gives a parent something to work with or work through together with their child!!
So it is too with God I believe! Look at so many of the Psalms, they are examples of crying out to God with much emotion and as we see in this situation with Elijah, God responds to His child. No prayer goes unheard or unanswered. We don’t always get an answer in the way we think we should but He understands things we can’t and knows things we don’t so we need to trust our heavenly Father. Just as parents we ask our kids to trust us, to glean from a little wisdom gained over years of past experiences.
Three times I found this morning in His Word where it states, The one who trust in him will never be put to shame!! (Romans 9:33, Romans 10:11, Isaiah 28:16) If I tell my children something 3 times its so they truly do not forget or miss the message and maybe just maybe God is doing the same thing with us, His children. Trust Me He says, you will not be dismayed, you will not be put to shame! Psalm 125:1 …Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
We can trust Him He is always faithful and as He reminded Elijah that day, you are never alone He always has a remnant, always has a plan that cannot be thwarted and promises to to be with you always to the very end of the age! In His grace and mercy He says in Romans 10:20 and again in Isaiah 65:1 I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, ‘Here I am, here I am.’
He is a good Father and He is calling out to all of us – here I am, here I am!! Will we choose to walk away in our feelings of hopeless defeat or will we choose to walk and talk with Him and let Him be the lifter of our eyes to see things from His perspective. Psalm 3:3 But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
