…neither wild plants nor grains were growing on the earth. For the LORD God had not yet sent rain to water the earth, and there were no people to cultivate the soil. Instead, springs came up from the ground and watered all the land. Genesis 1:5-6
Have you ever felt like you have been getting a busy signal from God? Like you are just waiting and waiting and you just don’t seem to be getting an answer?
Jeremiah 33:3 promises an answer not a busy signal and encourages us in fact to call to Him and He says He will answer and tell us great and unsearchable things we do not know!! So maybe what we perceive as a busy signal is really an answer in the form of a “not yet”.
In Genesis God had NOT YET sent rain for a reason… (He was saving that for Noah’s day.) God is always thinking ahead and always has a plan. This is evident in His creation of seed bearing plants and trees that grow seed bearing fruit (Gen. 1:11)! Seeds will always reflect that from which they came. You can’t plant an orange seed and get an apple tree.
In my waiting am I cultivating good seed to cast that will reflect my faithful God with a faithful plan? Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27:14
In my waiting, in my “not yet” am I willing to perceive the great and unsearchable things He IS telling me, and IS doing “INSTEAD”?! Genesis states the rains had “not yet” come but that God was still moving (John 5:17) and doing something “instead” at that time! And what He was doing was AMAZING! Springs were coming up from the ground!!!
What AMAZING ways has God been moving “instead” that maybe we have been missing because we’re too fixated on our “not yet”?
“Look! I have given you…” Gen. 1:29 We have nothing that we have not first received (1 Cor. 4:7) and He has “placed” us (Gen. 1:8) in a specific place and situation for a reason and with a plan and if I feel like I’m waiting on a “not yet”…
Jesus help me please cultivate good seed for You with eye’s, ears and a heart that perceives and joins in joyfully in what You HAVE given me and HAVE shown me and ARE doing “instead”. Praise Your faithful, victorious name – Amen.
