Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Ephesians 4:14
Being tossed back and forth by the waves can cause a severe case of sea sickness can’t it. Reading the account of Job in the Bible, we see that he was experiencing far worse than that. However Job makes reference to what he experienced in Job 30:22 by saying, You throw me into the whirlwind and destroy me in the storm.
Ever feel like you’ve been tossed into the whirlwind and quite possibly might be destroyed in the storm?
Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind: Job 38:1
Hold up, WHAT did that verse say?! The LORD answered Job from WHERE?! You mean the LORD was WITH Job… IN the whirlwind?!!!! You mean Job was actually never left to navigate the whirlwind, alone?!!!!! You mean Job was never out of God’s earshot or care?!!!
Between Job 38 and 42 there are about 70 questions God issues Job. Now God never asks us a question because He needs help figuring something out. He asks us so that we may come to conclude authentic Truth.
These questions are not given to answer the mystery of Job’s suffering or to vindicate God Himself. (1 Cor. 13:12) They were to help Job realize that God’s ways and thoughts and plans are so far beyond any humans (Is. 55:8-9). They were to prove God Almighty worthy of complete trust.
Jesus had wished things could have been done differently in the Garden of Gethsemane yet He said, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42
Jesus’ “no” resulted in our better “yes”.
Genesis 50:20 states, You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
Jesus sacrificed Himself in our place, for our sin, so that our lives might be saved! Jesus rose again and conquered death so there is now no whirlwind or storm that can have and destroy those of us in Jesus!! 2 Tim. 4:18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
You can do all things through Him who gives you strength (Phil 4:13)… through Him who sees you, hears you and has never left you and continues to work in your behalf to finish what He has started in you (Rom. 8:34, Phil 1:6). He who promised is faithful (Heb. 10:23). …you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. James 1:6
Job chose to trust God and by the last chapter in the book of Job he says to God, I know that you can do anything and no one can stop you…. I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. (Job 42:2,5)
WOW! It seems the whirlwind Job had thought would DESTROY him would actually be what DELIVERS him into a deeper relationship with the God of Heaven’s Armies!
Take trust in the title waves and faith in the fog for His victorious presence is with you in the whirlwind.
