A “rainbow” painted just for you: When Inefficient Is Most Effective Jesus replied, “This kind can be cast out only by prayer.” Mark 9:29

What stops you from taking hold of being a mighty prayer warrior? Is it because you feel inefficient when you pray? Anyone else a born multitasker that finds themself thinking… what else is NOT getting done that needs to get done while we are “just” praying?!

How much further from the truth could this thought process be!?! Mark 9:14-29 is the perfect example of how one “inefficient” moment spent “just” praying can ramp up our effective efficiency the ENTIRE rest of the day! In this passage the disciples quite possibly could have been multitasking all over the boys non verbal problem, the throwing himself violently to the ground issue or over the foaming at the mouth thing or gnashing of the teeth… but obviously no amount of multitasking was helping.

Prayer has a way of slowing us down to tap into the energy and wisdom only found in Jesus. Three times in this passage it states “how long…?”  I wonder how long are we going to try it on our own before getting a clue that prayer is the key to effective and efficient living!?!

Recall Isaiah’s reply to the call of God in Is. 6:8. “Here am I. Send me!” However God didn’t call Isaiah by name, He sent out a generic call, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” Isaiah just happened to be the one LISTENING. Prayer increases our chances of hearing His voice, His call, so we can know where He is working and can join Him!!

In the end of the passage in Mark the boy is healed; we too will be washed clean through time spent in the Word and in prayer (Eph. 5:26). As the boy’s father prayed for increased faith to believe, time spent with our Heavenly Father will increase our faith too. We can’t truly live on borrowed or stale faith, we need FRESH FAITH to be effective in this life and that kind can only come through choosing to be what the world may call “inefficient”.

In Mk. 9:26 what the world calls dead Jesus touches in verse 27 and new fresh life is infused! That boy stands up!! Dear one if we want to stand up with firm fresh effective faith in our daily moments we need to spend time down on our knees “inefficiently” yet most effectively “just”… praying. *Independent Read: Nehemiah 2:4-5 I bet that boy inhaled a prayer to be able to speak before the king and in the very same breath God exhaled an invasion of I AM… your Courage and Victory that blew his ever loving MIND!
