A “rainbow” painted just for you: DIY- Are You Kidding Me?! – Then he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree; and he threw it into the waters, and the waters became sweet… Exodus 15:25 (NASB)
I’m not sure what your stance on social media is but if they had it back in the day I’m sure there would still be people like, “If Noah posts one more picture of his DIY project I might just unfollow him!”
Kinda funny, but a little bit true right!? DIY projects can be tricky and a bit frustrating especially when everyone else’s “ark” seems to be coming along just fine!!! I think there is a lesson here as we look at Exodus 15:22-27. Moses and the Israelites had a bitter water problem and no DIY ideas were going to work, thus follows the intense complaining. However, what is God’s solution (verse 25)? Just throw a tree in it! WHAT?! No, Lord that makes no sense at all; that will just give the bitter water some fiber and what could be worse than bitter fiber water!!?!
Often times His solutions make no human sense but praise Him He can think outside our box and if we are willing to trust and obey like Moses did that day, we just might be surprised that what we thought would be the end of us, turned out to be the sweetest fulfilling of our deepest desires.
This is the message of the cross is it not! The cross was no DIY project. Every attempt at the law left us bitter failures. However Jesus humbled Himself and took our place… so WHo did it? Yahweh Did It! Maybe it’s time we stop trying to DIY (Do It Yourself) and start praising YDI, that Yahweh already did it. He freed us completely, He said on the cross. “It is finished.” (John 19:30)! Let’s start swimming in the sweetness of that Truth dear one.
