A rainbow painted just for you: Carve Your Flower: Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. Isaiah 43:4 (ESV)
I had a revelation this week… I really do have this thing called life down to a SCIENCE…now before you get too jealous it’s really only because each day feels like a crazy new EXPERIMENT! Anyone else feel me!?! Seriously though in 1 Kings 3 Solomon seems to be feeling like he’s been commissioned to capture that greased watermelon too! We hear him pray in verse 9, Lord give me an understanding heart… For who is able…?!?! For who is able!?! Can you relate? Praise be to God Almighty who answers Solomon’s honest prayer in verse 12 with, behold I have done… behold I have given… (So it’s not about us or our ability! Whahoo!)
Dear one, for every “Who in the world is able…!?” prayer; He answers, “Behold I AM, I have, I will…” But how willing are we to receive His answer, His way and in His time? It’s about abiding and trusting in Him (John 15:5). In 1 Kings 6 the exquisite Temple is being built (Quite an overwhelming task wouldn’t you agree?!) and in verse 29 it states, He decorated all the walls of the inner sanctuary and the main room with carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers. Anyone else ever tried to just DRAW an open flower let a lone CARVE one?! Not easy! Who is able? And then to work SO hard for it to sit in the INNER sanctuary (Not many people are going to see that hard work, even if you ARE an expert carver)! So not only, “Who is able?” but, “Who really cares anyway?!” – “Behold…I care. Behold… I see.” says God Almighty.
So when life seems like one big crazy experiment and you want to ask, “Lord who is able…?! Who really cares?!” Behold the One! The One who cared enough to die and rise again for you to rely on His strength to “carve that flower… in the inner sanctuary” just for Him. Zeph. 3:17 (NLT) For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
This week as you carve your “flower” for Him, that “flower” that maybe no one else will ever see, swim in the oasis of His love, because He delights in ALL your “flowers” carved just for Him. He says, “Your “flower” is beautiful. It’s worth it and it matters to Me. So keep on, dear one.”
Build A Rainbow Bridge: (Deut. 6:6-9)
MEMORIZE: Isaiah 43:4 with someone
PRAY/READ: Psalm 148 with someone this week
DISCUSS: What “flower” have you been commissioned to carve for Him? Are you changing diapers… going to work/school…making dinner…cleaning house…? How can you take His perspective on what He’s commissioned you to “carve” for Him for such a time as this?
ACT: Challenge: Ask God to help you notice and encourage someone else’s work on their “flower” for Him. Be diligent in searching and specific with encouragement (flowers can be small but they are ALL beautiful).
“Rainbows” Remembered Never Fade: (Deut. 4:9) How you’ve observed God’s faithfulness this week.
