A “rainbow” painted just for you: Strap On The Helmet And Ride The Cycle – So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. Isaiah 28:16 (NIV)

I don’t know what it is, but I tend to lapse back into the thought that I actually LIKE roller coasters. About .0000001 seconds after the coaster jerks to a start I am compounded by the realization that I actually have a SEVERE aversion to riding in a box at the speed of looping light on a rickety track barely strapped in!! However, once the cycle is started there is no stopping or going half way, you are ALL in, ALL the way, to the finish. That’s how I should ride the “hope cycle”, all the way to the finish! After all God does promise, He is able to make all grace abound to us, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, we may abound in every good work right! (2 Cor. 9:8)

When you find yourself seemingly strapped into a real life “roller coaster” situation, to what do you rely on for stability? Isaiah 28:16 (above) speaks of a precious cornerstone, a tested stone, that is found to be a sure foundation. Jesus referred to Himself as this cornerstone and though rejected by His own people – Matt. 21:42, Mark 12:10-11, Luke 20:17 – He is now the most important “stone”, the cornerstone, the foundation stone holding the church structure together – see Acts 4:11, Eph. 2:20, 1 Peter 2:6-7.

Why was He rejected? Many did not believe because Jesus did not meet their expectations for the Messiah. Have you ever experienced the ache of unmet expectations? What those people missed was that Jesus, the Messiah was exceeding their expectations! Romans 5:3-5 gives me a cycle: trials develop endurance develops strength of character develops confident hope of salvation! Hope of what?! Salvation! You mean there can be a SAFE ending to this wild ride called life?!! What is the helmet in the armor of God called (Eph. 6:17)? The helmet of salvation! So in any present “roller coaster” circumstance I can strap on the helmet of salvation, fix my mind on things above (Philip. 4:8, Col. 3:2), things to come that will exceed my expectations (1 Cor. 2:9, Eph. 3:20-21) and make the ride on the cycle of hope unregrettable!!

In Jesus you have been appointed and given authority and an audience, a sphere of influence for Him. When the ride feels like too much to bear, tighten your helmet and cling to the Rock that has been tested and proven to be a sure foundation upon which you can stand. You need not be shaken nor stricken with panic, His hope does not disappoint, you will arrive safely at the finish (2 Tim. 4:18).

PS. Your weakness is NOT too strong for His strength (2 Cor. 12:9) in Him, you’ve got what it takes.
