A “rainbow” painted just for you: Turn Around – She turned to leave and saw someone standing there. It was Jesus… John 20:14

You know that moment when you’re shopping and you’ve had an entire in depth conversation with someone dear to you only to turn around and find your dear friend is 5 racks down and over two aisles!?!! That complete stranger that has kindly lent you their listening ear is now politely trying to give you appropriate social distance… for OTHER reasons than a possible virus! You manage a humiliated chuckle as you rush off (now nine shades a deeper pink than a human should ever be) to go find your friend who will find this all too amusing for her own good! Anyone feel me here?! Well I think maybe a certain Mary Magdalene might relate on the level of turning to find someone completely unexpected!

John 20:13 opens with a certain question, “Dear woman, why are you crying?”  She answers in that same verse with, “Because they have taken…” and “I don’t know…” I wonder if any of us can relate to Mary having been in tears because of something taken and or not knowing or understanding why?!

However in the VERY next verse, verse 14 states, She turned… In a desperate moment we can let what offends us, what has hurt us, what has confused us drive us away from Him or, turn us to Him. In Jesus there is forgiveness, second chances, unfailing love, grace, healing, mercy, peace and joy, for EVERYONE! You cannot out sin or out fail the redeeming blood of Jesus.

The rest of verse 14 indicates that when Mary turned she saw… Jesus. In her brokenness this Mary who had been cured of seven demons (Luke 8:2) (seven being the number of completion so a gal who had in her past been completely overtaken by the enemy) turned around and who did she find in the middle of her suffering?! Jesus!! He was there even then and He is with you and I even now. In the place you think He would never go, He is there. If for no other reason than to be there for you when you turn around.

Dear one, if you need to make a turn today I’m praying you do and that you will find He’s been there all along waiting for you. He wants to become real to you in ways you never could have imagined. You are loved truly, madly, deeply and purely by the Almighty Creator God.

Might we all pray He turn our hearts toward His daily, hourly, momently, for His glory, honor and praise, that we might become an ever conforming magnification of who He really is to this craving world.
