A “rainbow” painted just for you: On The Way – On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb? Mark 16:3 (NLT)
Isn’t it true that sometimes you have to let go of a sure thing to take hold of the right thing?! The above verse starts out, “On the way..” What have you been “on the way” to lately when you have been inundated with any number of anxieties? I’m sure that these women headed to the tomb that held their God whom they were sure had been killed and not only that, but one VERY large heavy stone lay in their way, could relate on some level with us right!?! They were sure of what they saw and there was just no way for any shred of hope to still be left! They were just sure of it!
However Mark 16:4 indicates that as they arrived, they looked up and what did they see?! The VERY large stone had ALREADY been rolled away! God had already risen!! On their way, in their worry, He was working way beyond what they were so sure of! Verse 5 in the NLT tells me the women were shocked! Shocked! When was the last time you arrived, looked up and were just shocked at what God did with the stone in your way?! Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him!!
Or maybe you haven’t “arrived” yet and just need to keep on your way with Him to see what He is doing with it all?! Maybe you arrived shocked because He didn’t roll it away. Instead maybe He left it shoved to the side, just enough for it to rest on a hill so that we continue to be drawn to relying on His strength to hold it back; to trust that He can and will just enough so that we continue to see the Light of His living hope streaming from inside that tomb where once we were sure only death lay.
Sometimes a “stone” is not rolled away but rather rolled to the side so that we continue to remember Who is right and True and not become distracted by what we are so sure we are sure of. The biggest scariest, most life threatening stone WAS rolled away once and for all so any other “stone” we are sure will crush us… won’t. It can’t! It has no power over us, we don’t give it. Our God rose again from the grave! Joy to the world! All “stones” are under His control and like weight training can be used rather to strengthen us spiritually so that we do not rely on being sure of our own strength and what we can see but rather on His strength so on our way we learn what is right; walking by faith not by sight (2 Cor. 5:17).
Today I’m praying we can praise Him for the stones He’s left shoved to the side for spiritual weight training so that on our way to the Kingdom we might never become so weak in our own finite minds understanding of things that we miss what is right and True.
