It’s the season of extra gift giving and receiving. This got me thinking… I wonder how often we don’t have, because we don’t ask? And why don’t we ask? Is it because what we want seems too impossible, maybe it’s fear of failure? Joshua 17 depicts a group of people dissatisfied with where they are living but they are afraid to move because the enemy around them is too strong.
…“It’s true that that hill country is not large enough for us. But all the Canaanites in the lowlands have iron chariots, …They are too strong for us.” Joshua 17:16
Joshua’s response is faith infused. This God-confidence comes from trusting in the promises of God Almighty. …And you will drive out the Canaanites from the valleys, too, even though they are strong and have iron chariots.” Joshua 17:18
I believe God has given each of us the capacity of “even though” kind of faith. Do we receive it?
Glancing back two chapters… Joshua 15:13-19 paints a picture of a woman that was not afraid to ask. She is given in marriage to a victorious warrior that conquered land with no water. So she gets down off her donkey to which her father responds… “What is the matter?” (vs. 18)
Joshua 15:19 She said, “Give me another gift. You have already given me land in the Negev, now please give me springs of water, too.” So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.
Is your “land” dry? Maybe you feel emotionally or physically just drained. Dear one, Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.” John 7:38
Do you need some Living Water, water that saturates a soul with revival? Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. Matthew 7:11
P.S. Last I checked He was in the business of making dry bones live. (Ez. 37)
God bless you muchly~
