A “rainbow” painted just for you: Master Barista – But many who are first will be last, and the last first. Matthew 19:30

All throughout Scripture we see God show us it’s not always about being first across the line. According to society back then it was always the first born who got the best and biggest blessing. However Jesus’ very genealogy continuously points to a very different way! Jacob was blessed over Esau, Perez was blessed over Zerah and even Shelah. Joseph (who’s life is a sheer reflection or foreshadowing of Christ’s) also had two son’s Manasah and Ephraim and again we see the younger blessed over the older! This was unheard of but so is the Kingdom way is it not… The standard the world uses to measure success is by how much power, popularity and pennies you have total. In order to be on top you will need to make sure you keep pushing others down. Then you read Matthew 20:15 and what Jesus says just makes you go hmmmmmm. …should you be jealous because I am kind to others?

Good golly God is kind to all of us! We get so caught up measuring how much or how little is in our cup compared to the next person that we forget to just be grateful we have a cup!!! Because Jesus gave His life we each get a cup, we each have a kingdom purpose to fulfill. Your own cup is more beautiful than you can imagine and especially so when it’s pouring out that which God has poured in. “Pouring out” is not the world’s way either.

A potter can’t shape a cup out of a lump of clay that only remains halfway in his hand. Let God Almighty mold your cup to perfection; He’s brewing something in you that is special and if it needs to steep a bit longer than your neighbor’s cup of tea, so be it. Don’t be jealous, just let the Master Barista finish; you might find finishing last was better than first after all.

In God’s Kingdom, (the only Kingdom that will matter for eternity) the way, up is always down.
