Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The LORD will do what is good in his sight.” 1 Chronicles 19:13 (NIV)
David’s warriors were resolute to fight bravely, entrusting themselves and the battle’s outcome to God. They trusted God would do what was good in His sight. I’m so glad that God has a birds eye view to all that I am blind to. I can trust Him to see what I cannot and thus prepare and perform in ways far beyond my own.
Too often we get caught in the little slice of life we can see, feel, hear and touch (and if we are not careful we can begin to do the same with His Word… picking and piecing together our own theology instead of taking ALL of God’s Word in totality) we become endangered of missing His bigger picture. We can think of it this way, if I were blind and told to describe a bus but I only touched the wheel, I would say a bus is round and rubbery. That is not at all what a bus is! My perspective was skewed by my lack of it.
It’s easy to lose a battle or miss a blessing simply because we have overthought it in our finite minds or we have listened to the wrong voices describe it. We rely on a limited perspective more than we trust His greater one.
1 Chronicles 19:1-4 describes a time when David tried to show great kindness to another leader however because the people around that leader spoke words of doubt over David’s act of kindness, the leader retaliated with great meanness! That leader missed out on a huge blessing because he trusted the wrong source, a wrong perspective.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us that ONLY God Himself can fathom His great plan from beginning to end. Genesis 16:13 reminds us that our God is a God that sees us. He knows the number of hairs on your head, He knows the number of days to your life, He has collected your tears in a bottle, there is no place you can go, no battle you will face that He does not see you in! Why so often do we trust the “blind eye” when we know the One who sees and promises His presence with us!!! 2 Timothy 1:12 (NIV) That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
Each day we are gifted to wake back up, may we pray to know Him more, becoming completely convinced He is able in all situations to see us, freeing us up to LIVE ENTRUSTED! Entrusted to the One we know is able to guard us, doing battle before us, so that we might fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. Trusting all our outcomes to the One who will faithfully do what is good for us, and for His glory, according to His perfect sight. Praise Him!
