…In the evening you will know that it was the LORD…and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD… Exodus 16:6-7 (NIV)
In the evening you will KNOW and in the morning you will SEE… These verses in Exodus refer to God’s promised provision to sustain His people for forty years in the desert.
Point #1: In John 6:35 Jesus declares Himself to be the Bread of Life. He is the very sustenance of life itself.
Point #2: Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds that the steadfast love of God never ceases and that every morning His mercies fall afresh!!
Point #3: Psalm 16:7 conveys that even at night the Lord counsels.
Just like the Israelites in the DESERT WILDERNESS had EVERYTHING they NEEDED to sustain them through that season, so do we in Jesus, the very Bread of Life. EVERY morning He wakes us to SEE the fresh new beginning He offers because of His GREAT unfailing love and mercies. By evening what we had only seen in the morning becomes what we KNOW by night because throughout the day we have experienced Him meet our need to wash ourselves lavishly in His generous flow of mercy, grace, love and forgiveness!
However we know that the Israelites were not content with the provision of manna. They complained and even begged to go back into slavery to escape it!!! But remember God never intended for the manna to be on the menu permanently it was only for a season. God had told them He was bringing them to a land flowing with milk and honey… no mention of manna. Manna was to get them through a season. Do we grumble against the miracle manna God has sent to sustain us through a season?
Today, may we praise God for the provision of seasonal “manna”. Because of His death and resurrection we don’t end in “manna” but in Jesus we are headed to Paradise. A place with no tears or pain. A Paradise prepared in such love it’s too wonderful for any mind to conceive or ear to have heard or eye to have yet seen!
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
Enjoy the miracle provision of the seasonal menu, it won’t last forever.
