He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
Jeremiah 18 talks about a potter who was working at the wheel, (18:4 NIV) But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter… chucked it all into the trash and gave up on it. NOOO! That is most certainly NOT how that verse finishes! So why is that so often how we finish our marred up situations in life? If we hang in there, the thought started in Jeremiah 18:4 (NIV) finishes as follows, …the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
The potter did not give up on the marred clay. We as the clay, must not give up on the Potter.
If we will remain in His capable hands He will form what is most beautifully best in HIS eyes!! The clay must trust the skill of the Potter. Jeremiah 17:7 (NIV) “But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us of our finite minds that will not be able to comprehend all that our infinite God has done beginning to end! However we can know through Revelation 22:13 WHO is the Beginning and the End and Philippians 1:6 does promise us that He will finish that which He starts in us.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 (NIV) Remember Esther 4:14 (NIV) …And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” and Philemon 1:15 (NIV) Perhaps the reason he was separated from you for a little while was that you might have him back forever— “And who knows…”, “Perhaps…” it would seem we are not the first people on earth to have to live by faith! Yet the Faithful and True one gives us His Word in John 15:5 that if we will remain in Him, our lives, our pot, will not fail to be fruitful!! We don’t need to know or understand how, just let your clay rest, remaining fully in the Potters skilled hands; that’s the only place marred becomes truly miraculous.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
