Fire Alarm Pull With God – 54

But David found strength in the LORD his God. 1 Samuel 30:6

The fire alarm has just been pulled… you have 60 seconds… what do you take? 1, 2…

Take this: You still have strength left.

It may not be your strength, but you always have His strength left. David and all his men had been severely plundered and 1 Samuel 30:4 says, David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep. Ever been there? Not a good place. But David knew whether it was good times or bad the source of his strength was not within himself it was in God. This world is loud and seems to be even louder when we are at our lowest, the lies can be deafening and the temptations overwhelming but David in his weakness allowed God to be his strength, his counsel, his wisdom, and he turned to God and inquired of Him in his distress. 1 Samuel 30:8 says, David asked God if he should pursue his enemies, would God be with him if he did and grant success?! God was faithful and answered David because God always answered prayer, always. This time God gave the green light and David trusted God and ended up fully restored. That’s just God’s way, He never comes up short on strength for your moment, but are we going to Him to receive it?

Psalm 86:7 He will answer…

2018-01-31 12.55.59

The fire alarm has just been pulled… you have 60 seconds… what will you take? 1, 2…

Take this: God always answers you.

Like David did in Psalm 69:17 I have times I want to cry out to God in desperation “Answer quickly!!!” “I’m in trouble; I have a dead line; a decision needs to be made; God answer quickly!!” However God will not be rushed. His timing is always perfect and I need to trust that. If He is keeping track of every one of my tears I know He is hearing my words. He cares, hears, and will always answer. David knew it despite moments of panic, in Psalm 86:7 he says, in the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me. He will answer me but sometimes I suffer from selective hearing; the problem sometimes is I’m only listening for the answer I want to hear. He speaks through His Word, prayer, creation, circumstances and people but am I listening with ears and eyes awakened and tuned to His voice and Spirit? Psalm 86:11 Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.

The fire alarm has just been pulled… you have 60 seconds… what will you take? 1, 2…

Take this: Hope Dealer or Fault Finder. We all have a choice: every day, every moment, and with everyone we meet.

Being a Fault Finder is easy in our human nature; even the devil does it. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night… Rev. 12:10.  Jesus called sin out, but then offered hope (John 8:1-11). Jesus is our blessed hope (Titus 2:13) our living hope (1 Peter 1:3)! May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit- Romans 15:13.  Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us… 2 Cor. 1:9-10.

Jesus please make me a Hope Dealer. When my sinful, critical nature creeps up, help me to remember the love, grace and mercy You have lavished on me. I want to find the glad, speak life, be part of the solution. You have filled me with Living Hope, help me to freely deal!

The fire alarm has just been pulled… you have 60 seconds… what do you take? 1, 2…

Take this: Pray 1 Samuel 16:18 for yourself or someone else.

1 Samuel 16:18 (AMP) One of the young men said, “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who is a skillful musician, a brave and competent man, a warrior, discerning (prudent, eloquent) in speech, and a handsome man; and the Lord is with him.”

God make me someone that uses every skill You have given me to the fullest capacity.  May I have nothing left at the end of my life.

Make me choose brave in-spite of fear and give me a competent mind, seeking out anything and everything always measuring it against the Truth of Your Word.

Make me a mighty warrior in Your army Lord. May I remember that the most regret comes from opportunities not taken rather than mistakes from opportunities seized. The man or women whom God backs cannot be destroyed.

Help me Lord to be wise and discerning in my ways. When necessary to use words and help me to trust You to give them to me.

Lord, in this world outwardly we are fading away so help me evermore chase after the inner beauty, the handsome heart that You alone can create in one fully surrendered to You.

Lord be with me always, show me how to grow in a relationship with You, grip me Lord, make my heart fertile soil for Your Word and let my hunger and thirst for more of You be ever increasing. I don’t want to miss even one way You planed for my life to glorify Yours.

In Jesus name, Amen.

I do have one request… Judges 8:24

The fire alarm has just been pulled… you have 60 seconds… what will you take? 1, 2…

Take this: Check your request.

Gideon has just had an incredible victory in the Lord and overcome great fear in God’s strength. He shows his heart to be humble when praised by his people. Gideon responds in Judges 8:23 I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The LORD will rule over you. Sometimes it would be best if we just stopped while we were ahead. This might have been one of those times for Gideon because the next words out of his mouth are the cause of a great snare to him and his family.

His request landed him with seventeen hundred gold shekels, not counting the other great riches accumulated in the plunder of their enemies! Gideon used the gold to make an ephod sometimes a holy garment associated with the priesthood however at other times it was a pagan object associated with idols. Judges 8:27 indicates all Israel prostituted themselves by worshiping it and thus it became a snare to Gideon AND his family.

How could what started to be good and humble intentions end up as such a snare, a stumbling block to an entire family?! We are human and the devil is deceitful.  He often takes something good and adds a twist and if we are not careful in bringing all our “think we knows” along with our “I don’t know” requests before the Lord we too are susceptible to the devil leading us in a slow fade off into our own snare.

Check your requests before God and His Word… ALWAYS.

The fire alarm has just been pulled… you have 60 seconds… what do you take? 1, 2…

Take this: You are not alone.

No sooner had Gideon died than the Isralites again prostituted themselves to the Baals….and did not remember the LORD their God, who had rescued them for the hands of all their enemies on every side. They also failed to show kindness to the family of Jerub-Baal (that is Gideon) for all the good things he had done for them. Judges 8:33-35 In my Bible I boxed the words “they also” in the above verse. A reminder that when I am wronged just like Gideon was I have a God that understands completely. Jesus said in John 15:18 If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. I am not alone and neither are you. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

…whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

The fire alarm has just been pulled… you have 60 seconds… what will you take? 1, 2…

Take this: Don’t give up.

Sometimes I get so inspired to do something amazing for God.  Something really big. I wonder though, if that doesn’t distract me from the really big thing He may already be trying to do in my life in a million and one very small ways?! Maybe I’m not suppose to write 50 books… maybe I’m suppose to speak His love, encouragement and joy to every single cashier I ever come across. I should not become discouraged because what I’m doing seems so small and insignificant. Remember nothing is too small or insignificant when handed to you by The King.  He sees things we don’t and understands things we can’t. Trust Him. Often it is the small things that are the big things in His Kingdom. I may not feel like I am doing anything big and amazing for God but if I am breathing, if you are breathing, than we are part of His big plan. That’s enough. God help me to not give up because what I do seems so small. Lift my eyes off myself, give me Your perspective as You lift my eyes up and out and help me be faithful even with the seemingly small in Your amazingly, big plan.
