Where’s Your Root?

Reigning Rainbows Devotional  (Matt. 13:16) – 3 of 52

Song pick of the week: https://youtu.be/-8bYgVEfAUo “You’ll Never Be Alone” by Capital Kings

A “rainbow” painted just for you: Where’s Your Root? …sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it. Gen.4:7 …the LORD your God fights for you, just as he promised. Josh. 23:10

I sometimes wonder what happened to people that have asked me for directions…(Please understand I had the best intentions!) I quite possibly could be the reason GPS was invented! So, you’re welcome, if you too find electronic directional assistance useful at times. However, what I appreciate more is that God anticipated I would need LIFE directions and so He gave me His living Word! Can I get an “amen!”?!!

Now, we can and should work to memorize His Word but what good is that if it just stays head knowledge?! Sometimes the most difficult journey can be from head to heart. If any of you have ever watched “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” you know the father character traces every single spoken word somehow back to having its root in the Greek language and then says, “…there ya go.” This got me thinking as I attempt to read and memorize Scripture; to challenge myself to try and trace each verse back to the heart of Jesus in order to LIVE like Him and in His Truth.

For example Gen. 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. We know Jesus was at the beginning (John 1:1) and if He is in the biggest of big (slinging galaxies into the heavens) and in the smallest of small (knitting the butterfly’s wing on earth) than I can LIVE rooted in that Truth without worry and fear. Gen. 1:26, God said, “Let us make man in our image.” If I am made in the image of Jesus I can LIVE free of insecurities and can forget playing the comparison game (in which no one ever wins anyway)!

What about Gen. 3:6? When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. How would you LIVE this one out?! We certainly don’t want to be another’s stumbling block, as we know this event caused the fall of mankind! So let’s look deeper… What was the motive maybe in Eve that caused this situation? Maybe she had ONLY memorized Gen. 1:1 and Gen. 1:26 and was not LIVING rooted in those Truth’s. Maybe she was still living in fear, worry, insecurities and comparison, always feeling like she fell short. Jesus must be our biggest distraction, our loudest Truth, or we will be seduced by the next shiny red apple too.

Ephesians 1:11 tells us He holds the plan and if I walk with Him it’s all going to work out in the end (I don’t get lost, hallelujah!). Did you know that the words “work out” in that verse is actually “energeo” in the Greek?!! God Almighty is the energizing force behind everything dear one! Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus and LIVE different! LIVE God-centered and rooted in His energizing Truth over us. Let it ring louder in our hearts and minds than all the lies of the shiny red apples swirling around us. John 8:32 Then you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free. Well, that’s all for now so… “there ya go.” 🙂 *Independent Read: Judges 3:12-31 and notice how God used Ehud’s overlooked ability to conquer the enemy. In Jesus you are not lost or overlooked you are victorious! LIVE in that Truth!!!

Not Alone

A “Rainbow” Painted Just For You: NOT ALONEFor what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the LORD our God is to us, whenever we call upon him? Deuteronomy 4:7

Ever feel like the number of times you exclaim, “Failed it!” far outweigh the number of times you exclaim, “Nailed it!” ?! Well, take heart if you find yourself in this same boat with me! If we look at some promises God gives us… John 15:5, John 14:16, 1 John 2:1 and John 14:26 I think His expectation of us is that in ourselves we WOULD fail, we WOULD need help! So in that case every time I feel like I need help, or I’ve failed this week, I can exclaim, “Nailed it!! I’ve met God’s expectations for me in myself!” BUT… God, through His precious promises to us whispers rejuvenating Truths to restart the heart! He says, “Yes, you nailed it but I was nailed TO it and overcame, so you don’t have to stay this way. Take My hand, what is humanly impossible is possible with Me (Luke 18:27)! Let Me take you beyond yourself. I hold immeasurably more in you than all you could ask or imagine, according to My power (Eph. 3:20). Trust Me and receive it!”

Remember all the fullness of God is in Jesus and Jesus is in you as a believer and stronger is He!!! (1 John 4:4, Col.1:27, John 14:20) No greater gift can you give the world than the Holy Spirit in you and that dear one is something He gives you without limit (John 3:34)! It’s not about the glass being half full or half empty, it’s that in Jesus your glass is refillable!!! Praise Him!

This week when you feel that you have come to the end of your rope, look up and find it’s just the beginning of His!! Look for ways He fulfills His promise that He is close to you and will never leave you to do things alone. Then step out in trust and take hold of HIS strength. *Independent Read: 2 Timothy 1:7

Reigning Rainbows 1/52

Our God reigns! (Psalm 47:8)  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

2020-01-01 12.35.43

A devotional to encourage awareness of His faithfulness to His promises in everyday moments, coupled with resources to help share His love.

Maybe you are a mom, grandma, a great grandma, a woman that has kids walk past her home to school each day, a teacher with 30 littles to care for all week long, a babysitter or a bus driver… Maybe you are a woman that never really thought about how many young in the faith, or those that may not have The faith, actually cross your path each day.

A little R&R at the feet of Jesus and you will begin to see the R&R’s (“Reigning Rainbows”) God is still painting –  in, through and with your life dear one… rainbows of faithful promise too special not to share!

But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. Matthew 13:16 (NIV)

A “rainbow” painted just for you: RAINBOW GAZING –When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth. Genesis 9:16

How romantic! How captivating to know that the Almighty God of the universe wants to share a rainbow gazing moment in time with YOU, dear one! In Hebrew the same term is used for both the word “rainbow” and “bow”. It’s like our Mighty Warrior hangs His bow in the sky to invite us to do the same… to hang up the “bow” we have been fighting life so hard with and just curl up in His lap to receive the peace, the energy, the rest, and restoration that only comes from the One who fights FOR you. Let Him enrapture your heart over the fleeting seconds a rainbow exists on the edge of a storm with the Truth’s that He is faithful; that the earth’s time and seasons are preserved and held in His powerful hand, there is no storm He can’t calm or take you walking on the raging waves of – safe and secure in His enduring love.

This week savor the fleeting seconds a “rainbow” exists… when you first open the dryer door – the rush of warm air reminds you of the warmth of His love (1 Peter 1:22 GWT)… wiggle your fingers and toes before getting out of bed – it’s a rainbow gifted moment from God Almighty that is not guaranteed at the end of that day (Philippians 2:13 NIV)… the “rainbow” of the 100th interruption because you are just that important (2 Timothy 3:17 NIV)… God is trying to catch your attention with His lavish love for you sweet girl, take time this week to notice His flirtations with your heart and praise Him as you rainbow gaze together.
